Tewksbury Country Club will play host to a 5K Fun Run on Memorial Day to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
The event is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. on a course that will take participants on the cart paths throughout the Tewksbury Country Club golf course.
"The course was mapped out by Marc Ginsburg and his son Matt," said race organizer Jerry Selissen. "We've got more than 140 registered participants so far and we'll be maxing out at 300."
Registration for the event is $25 and registration information can be found at http://tewksburycc.com/ or by downloading the attached PDF. Runners and walkers receive beverages, wristbands and race t-shirts.
"Marc Ginsburg is covering all the costs for the event -- the timing, the prizes, everything," said Selissen.
Sponsorships are also available for the event, at $500, $250 and $100 levels. According to Selissen, more than 20 local businesses have already signed up as sponsors.
According to its website the Wounded Warrior Project was established to "raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members." The WWP offers direct programs to help wounded veterans but also helps veterans to connect and help each other.
"The Wounded Warrior Project is a great program and it helps so many wounded veterans," said Selissen. "81 percent of all the money they raise goes to direct programs for veterans."
