Marching Bands, Clowns And Heroes To Highlight Memorial Day ParadeMay 23, 2014 03:36AM ● By Bill Gilman
Marching bands, clowns and antique cars are just some of the entertainment families will be able to find at the 2014 Tewksbury Memorial Day Parade.
Also marching will be members of numerous community groups, local business, elected officials and, of course heroes representing the past and present of all beaches of the armed services.
The parade will kickoff at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 26 at the Town Common and will continue along Route 38 for nearly three miles before coming to an end in the parking lot behind Jon Ryan’s Pub.
The parade caps of a full day of Memorial Day events in Tewksbury. The schedule for the day includes the following:
8 a.m. -- 5K Fun Run/Walk at Tewksbury Country Club, 1880 Main St.
11:30 a.m. -- Salute to all members of the Armed Forces lost at sea, Knights of Columbus, 2068 Main St.
12:30 p.m. -- Memorial Day Services
Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East St.
2 p.m. — Parade
According to Event Organizer Patrick Holland, music in the parade will be provided by the Tewksbury High Band, MacPherson Pipes/Drums, the Siracusa Project Band, the Windam Band, Northeast Italian Band, the Andover Band Association and the Lowell High School Band.
The Tewksbury Fire Department and Police Department will be represented, as will the local elected officials.
More than two dozen community groups will be marching, including the Tewksbury Red Hats, Liam Nation, the Community Food Pantry, Tewksbury Co. of Minute &Militia, the Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts, the Tewksbury Knights of Columbus and the Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks.
Additional entertainment will be provided by Sinai Joes Clown Unit. And car enthusiasts will be delighted by the participation of the Merrimack Valley Car Club.
