Redmen Take Aim At North Sectional Championships
Shannon McLaughlin and the Tewksbury High softball team have their sights set on a D2 North Championship.
Three Redmen teams begin play this week in post-season tournaments.
The girls tennis team posted a 10-6 record during the regular season and earned the 10th seed in the Division 2 North Sectional Tournament. The Redmen will have their work cut out for them when they hit the road to take on No. 7 Wayland High (10-5) in the opening round on Thursday, May 29, at 3:30 p.m.
The winner of Wayland/Tewksbury will advance to the quarterfinals (date and time TBA) to take on the winner of No. 2 Concord-Carlisle (13-1) vs. No. 15 Wakefield (9-7).
Unbeaten Winchester (16-0) is the No. 1 seed in D2 North.
The Tewksbury High softball team posted a 14-6 record in the regular season. That was good for the 6th Seed in D2 North.
The Redmen will open tournament play on Friday, May 30, at 4 p.m., when they play host to No. 11 Newburyport (11-9) in the opening round. The winner of that game will move on to the quarterfinals and a date with the winner of No. 3 Arlington (16-4) vs. No. 14 Bedford (6-12), date and time TBA.
Burlington High (16-2) is the No. 1 seed in the D2 North Tournament.
The Division 2 North Boys Lacrosse Tournament appears to be wide open. Tewksbury posted a 13-7 regular season record to earn the No. 7 seed in the nine-team tournament.
The Redmen will be on the road to open play in the quarterfinals against No. 2 Wakefield (14-4) on Saturday, May 31 at 2 p.m.
The winner of that game will move on to the semifinals (date and time TBA) against the winner of No. 3 Beverly (11-8) and No. 6 Danvers (10-8).
15-3 Melrose earned the No.1 seed in the D2 North Tournament.
