May 28, 2014 12:44PM ● By Bill Gilman

Shannon McLaughlin and the Tewksbury High softball team have their sights set on a D2 North Championship.

Tewksbury High seniors may have their minds on Graduation Day, Prom and maybe even beach week. But for several seniors, there is unfinished business to take care of before they say farewell to high school.
Three Redmen teams begin play this week in post-season tournaments.
Girls Tennis
The girls tennis team posted a 10-6 record during the regular season and earned the 10th seed in the Division 2 North Sectional Tournament. The Redmen will have their work cut out for them when they hit the road to take on No. 7 Wayland High (10-5) in the opening round on Thursday, May 29, at 3:30 p.m.
The winner of Wayland/Tewksbury will advance to the quarterfinals (date and time TBA) to take on the winner of No. 2 Concord-Carlisle (13-1)  vs. No. 15 Wakefield (9-7).
Unbeaten Winchester (16-0) is the No. 1 seed in D2 North.
The Tewksbury High softball team posted a 14-6 record in the regular season. That was good for the 6th Seed in D2 North.
The Redmen will open tournament play on Friday, May 30, at 4 p.m., when they play host to No. 11 Newburyport (11-9) in the opening round. The winner of that game will move on to the quarterfinals and a date with the winner of No. 3 Arlington (16-4) vs. No. 14 Bedford (6-12), date and time TBA.
Burlington High (16-2) is the No. 1 seed in the D2 North Tournament.
Boys Lacrosse
The Division 2 North Boys Lacrosse Tournament appears to be wide open. Tewksbury posted a 13-7 regular season record to earn the No. 7 seed in the nine-team tournament.
The Redmen will be on the road to open play in the quarterfinals against No. 2 Wakefield (14-4) on Saturday, May 31 at 2 p.m.
The winner of that game will move on to the semifinals (date and time TBA) against the winner of No. 3 Beverly (11-8) and No. 6 Danvers (10-8).
15-3 Melrose earned the No.1 seed in the D2 North Tournament.
