To The Editor:
I am writing on behalf of the Tewksbury Community Pantry board of directors and the many people served by our pantry. The board wishes to express its deep appreciation for all the support generously given the pantry during this year's National Association of Letter Carriers food drive.
Thanks to the support of many residents who generously left food by their mailbox, our media, municipal government, and local businesses who publicized the event, our many volunteers who return year after year to sort and store food, and our Tewksbury based letter carriers who tirelessly picked up and delivered donated food during their rounds, the pantry realized an astonishing 23,000 pounds of food to be distributed in coming months to those in our community who need food assistance. This amount is a staggering 37% increase over last year and represents an all time high in Tewksbury. While we are not surprised by this incredible level of support because we've seen Tewksbury rise to the occasion time and time again, the result reflects a community-wide effort our entire town should be proud of. It underscores yet again that your Tewksbury Community Pantry is truly a community pantry.
On behalf of those who benefit directly from this generosity, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to all who made this food drive such a resounding success and thank you for all your continued support.
On Behalf of the Board of a Directors,
