Mary A. Pupkis, 84

Mary A. (Carroll) Pupkis, age 84, a resident of Tewksbury for 65 years, passed away at the D'Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell on Thursday, May 29, 2014.
She was the beloved wife of 59 years to Walter J. Pupkis, who passed away on March 5, 2009.
Born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada on September 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Rose) Carroll.
Mary was raised on Red Island and in St. John's, Newfoundland and attended local schools.
At age 18, after working for the St. John's Telephone Company, she moved to the United States where she met Walter, and they were married shortly after. Following their marriage on December 26, 1949, she moved to Tewksbury.
Mary was a communicant of St. William's Parish, where she was a former member of the Ladies Sodality.
She was a former member of the Greater Lowell Home Builders' Association and was past president of its Women's Auxiliary. Mary and Walter enjoyed the many friendships they had throughout the years with the other members.
Mary took great pride is raising her family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and traveling with her late husband throughout Europe and the Caribbean. As she enjoyed home decorating, Mary was co-owner and worked at the Tewksbury Decor Center for several years, and enjoyed meeting and assisting the local community.
Mary is survived by four children, Joseph W. Pupkis of Lowell, Donna M. Fitzpatrick and her husband Michael of Aiken, SC, Ruth Anne Teague and her husband Frank of Tewksbury, and Sandra J. Giorelli and her husband Marco of Toronto, Canada; seven grandchildren, Sean Ftitzpatrick, Travis Pupkis, Ann Marie (Pupkis) Pellecchia, Michael and Shaelagh Teague, Carlo and Emma Giorelli; six great grandchildren, Samantha, Michael , Aiden, Shaun, Teagan, and Albert; one brother, David Carroll and his wife Judy of St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada; also many nieces and nephews.
Mary was the grandmother of the late Patrick F. Teague.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of D'Youville Senior Care Center, for all their wonderful care and support.
Calling hours are Wednesday, June 4, from 10-11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
