How Does Tewksbury's Teacher Pay Compare To Other School Districts?

Do you think your child's teachers are well paid? Do you think they are overpaid?
Ask 100 people how much teachers should make and you will likely get a wide variety of answers.
The Boston Business Journal recently published a survey that looked at the average salaries for public school teachers all across Massachusetts.
The results were Fascinating and a little surprising.
At the top of the heap was the Concord-Carlisle School District, which pays its teachers an average salary of $95,947. A close second was the Lincoln-Sudbury School District, with an average salary of $94,087.
At the other end of the spectrum was Gardner, which near the bottom at 269th in the state with an average salary of $63,726.
So where did Tewksbury fall?
Tewksbury ranks 156th in the state with an average teacher salary of $70,593 in 2013. This is up from $68,965 in 2012 and up from $62,972 in 2008.
Tewksbury teachers make slightly more than their counterparts in Wilmington ($68,334) and Billerica ($67,940). But they rank below both North Andover ($72,619) and Andover ($80,529).
Overall, the median salary for teachers in Massachusetts is roughly $69,000. That's up from around $61,000 in 2008.
