Meet New Senior Center Director Ashley Stuart; Benefit Breakfast on Sunday

The Friends of the Elderly will be hosting a Benefit Breakfast at the Senior Center on Sunday.
The following information was submitted by Senior Center Director Ashley Stuart
You are invited to a coffee with the Director, Ashley Stuart on Monday June 9th from 11:30AM to 12:30 PM at the Senior Center. The Director will be open for any questions you may have.
This Sunday, June 8th is Senior Citizen’s Day at Canobie Lake Park. Anyone who is 60 or older will be given free admission to the park with an ID. There will be a performance by the Dave Whitney Band from 1-3PM in the Dancehall Theater.
A breakfast benefit hosted by the Friends of the Elderly, will be held on Sunday June 8th from 7:30-11:00AM at the Senior Center. All proceeds from this breakfast will be used to fund the Senior Center’s activities. Menu will include: pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, corned beef hash, beans, toast & beverages. Adults are $7, children 12 and under are $3 and toddlers free. Public Welcome!
A second TRIAD event is being held at the Senior Center on June 11th at 9:30 – 11. The event is called “What Happens When You Call 911?” The speaker will be Tim Regan, Chief of EMS at Lowell General Hospital and Richard Hamm of the Tewksbury Fire Department. Also, in recognition of Elder Abuse Awareness Day, June 15th Michael Springman will be joining us. Thanks to the Blaire House for sponsoring this event.
On Wednesday June 11th the Red Hat Carnation Belles will visit the Mt. Auburn Cemetary & Venezia on the Water. The cost is $42 per Belle and the bus departs the Senior Center at 8AM. Price includes a Mini Coach, 1.5 hour guided walking tour of this National Historic Cemetary & lunch at Venezia on the Water. There are 4 meal choices.
The next Men’s Group meeting will be held on Thursday, June 12th at 9:00 AM. All men 60+ are welcome.
The MS Support Group will hold its monthly meeting next Monday, June 16th at 10:00 AM. This group is open the the public.
The Council on Aging will hold its regular monthly meeting next Wednesday, June 18th at 12:30 PM in the conference room. All are welcome to attend.
The Silverstones will hold its monthly dance at the Senior Center on Friday, June 20th beginning at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door at $10 per person. Why not come on down and listen to the great big band sounds of our in-house band.
DJ Jon Mansfield will be back to the Senior Center for an afternoon dance on Monday, June 23rd. Those who obtain a ticket by June 18th will have lunch included in the $6 tickets price.
A trip to Hampton Beach is being planned for June 25th. The cost will be $15 per person. The trip will be to see the sand castles and the Continental’s will be playing at the bandstand that evening. Bus will leave the Senior Center at 3:00PM and Leave Hampton Beach at 10:00PM. Dinner will be on one’s own.
Boston Duck Tour! The senior center is planning a trip for July 9th. The tour will be followed by lunch at the Hard Rock Café. More details to follow!
Tickets are on sale now for the July 7th Foxwood’s trip. The cost of this trip is $30 per person and includes motor coach transportation, a casino package and the driver gratuity.
Lastly, the public is reminded that the Senior Center’s Upscale Consignment Boutique and the Snooti Patooti Gift Shop are open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday- Thursday and on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. All proceeds from the shops support the programs and activities at the Senior Center.
