OBIT: Ethel Penney, 86

 Ethel (Luce) Penney, age 86, a resident of Goffstown, NH for the past 17 years, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away at the Maple Leaf Health Care Center in Manchester, NH on Sunday, June 1, 2014, surrounded by her family.

She was the beloved wife of Frederick S. Penney, with whom she would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on July 8, 2014.

Born in Pike, New Hampshire on July 9, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and S. Florence (Greening) Luce.

Ethel was raised in Stoneham, attended Stoneham schools and graduated from Stoneham High School.

She resided in Tewksbury for 25 years until moving to Goffstown in 1997.

Ethel was a member of the Hillside United Methodist Church in Goffstown and Acacia Chapter No. 80 Order of Eastern Star of Tewksbury.

Ethel enjoyed sewing, knitting and craft projects.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Frederick A. Penney and his wife MaryAnn of Chelmsford, Susan E. Hicks and her husband David of Tewksbury, Janet L. Thompson and her husband Richard, and Richard S. Penney and his wife Marielle all of Nashua, NH; one sister, Marcia Lohnes of Billerica; one brother, Frank A. Luce, Jr. and his wife Gail of Tewksbury; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Ethel was the sister of the late Ellen and William Luce.

Calling hours are Friday, June 6, from 3-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. An Eastern Star Service will be at 7 p.m. and a Prayer service will follow at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, on line donations can be made in memory of Ethel M. Penney to the Neurology Research Fund at www.giving.massgeneral.org.
