Staples To Close Tewksbury Store in July

Jun 05, 2014 06:39PM ● Published by Bill Gilman

Staples may like to use the slogan, "Yeah, we've got that," but starting next month you won't be able to "get that" in Tewksbury.
Executives at the Framingham-based office superstore have told employees that the Tewksbury Staples, located in Stadium Plaza, 10 Main St., will be closing permanently on July 5.

According to a company announcement back in March, Staples will be closing the doors on 225 retail locations across North America before the end of 2015. The closings are part of a larger effort to cut approximately $500 million in expenses annually.

It's the second wave of store closings for the Fortune 500 company in the past three years. Back in 2012, the company announced the closing of 30 North American stores.

It's not known how many employees will be laid off as the result of the Tewksbury Staples closing. Before the store closures started in 2012, Staples employed roughly 88,000 people worldwide.
