Camp Wah-Tut-Ca is holding an open house.

The following information was submitted by Tewksbury Boy Scout leadership.

On Saturday, June 28, 2014, from 1 to 3 p.m., Yankee Clipper Council, Boy Scouts of America, will host an Open House for families, friends and neighbors at Wah-Tut-Ca Scout Reservation, 292 Blake’s Hill Road in Northwood, New Hampshire, on Northwood Lake just 90 minutes north of Boston. Refreshments will be served.
The Open House will preview the exciting resident summer camp experiences and programs that will be offered at Wah-Tut-Ca from July 6 through August 16 for boys ages 10 years old or in fifth grade up to the age of 18. These programs include Project Green (Scouting basics for first year campers), Frontier (Scoutcraft), Discovery (ecology), Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (COPE®), and Aquatic Adventures for more experienced campers along with opportunities to earn merit badges, awards and recognitions.
In addition, the camp offers youth leadership training programs and four “extreme” camp weeks: “Aquatics Extreme” featuring canoeing, kayaking, sailing, swimming, tubing, wakeboarding and water skiing; “Biosphere” which is the annual scientific field study of the natural features of the camp property and Northwood Lake; “Cliffhanger,” an extreme climbing program, and “Top Shot,” which offers a high level of instruction combined with team competition to create a safe environment for learning advanced target skills.
Camp Director Tom Swift (a teacher at Peabody High School), Program Director Zack Shepherd and the rest of the staff will lead tours of the camp and answer questions about the camp experience at Wah-Tut-Ca.
“Although our campers do need to be registered members of the Boy Scouts, boys can join Scouting and register for camp at this Open House,” explained Swift. A listing of Scout units by ZIP Code can be found atwww.beascout.org. “The ‘early bird’ camp fee will be extended to those who register for camp at the Open House,” Swift added.
“Scouting and camping go hand-in-hand. It’s been said many times that the Boy Scouts of America wrote the book on camping and our goal is to deliver that authentic, exciting and memorable experience,” Swift said.
Celebrating its 78th Anniversary, Wah-Tut-Ca Scout Reservation is owned and operated by Yankee Clipper Council. “The camp is nationally accredited by the Boy Scouts of America and the staff is trained to assure that every youth who attends the camp receives the maximum benefit that a Scout camp can provide,” Swift said.
Yankee Clipper Council also offers Cub Scout day camp opportunities serving boys from ages 6 to 11 at Lone Tree Scout Reservation in New Hampshire as well as special day camp weeks in Chelmsford and Topsfield.
Please RSVP to David Fitzgerald at dfitzger@bsamail.org. To learn more about Camp Wah-Tut-Ca, other Yankee Clipper Council camp opportunities, and Boy Scouting, please visit www.beaScout.orgwww.yccbsa.orgor call the Yankee Clipper Council Service Center at 978.372.0591.
