Daniel S. Gillette, age 64, a veteran and well known member of the community, died peacefully on Thursday morning, June 5, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Danny was born in Lowell, November 14, 1949, one of four children of the late William James Gillette and Theresa (McGee) Gillette. He was raised in Tewksbury and graduated from Keith Academy in Lowell. He joined the U.S.M.C. Reserves during the Vietnam War, and founded and operated an electrical contracting business in Tewksbury throughout his working career.

Danny was a former member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks, and was a faithful supporter of the Tewksbury D.A.V. Post 110 and the American Legion Post 259.

He is survived by a son, Michael Gillette of Norwood, MA; two granddaughters, Kaitlin and Danielle Gillette; a brother and sister-in-law; William and Karen (Redding) Gillette of Lowell; a brother-in-law, Larry Joseph of Barnstable, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel S. Gillette Jr., his brother Robert Gillette, and his sister, Rosemary Joseph.

Relatives and friends will be received Saturday, June 7, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. A prayer service will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Tewksbury D.A.V. Post 110, 180 Pond St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.
