Tewksbury Seniors Are Going Places ... Like Boston and Hampton Beach

The coffee with the Director on Monday June 9th went over very well. I hope I answered all the questions that have come up since my arrival on April 7th. I look forward to more interaction with everyone in the community now that my SHINE training has come to an end and I will be in the office. Thank you all for your attendance and thank you to Richard Montuori for coming to hear the concerns of our Seniors in Tewksbury.
The foot care clinic held on Thursday June 5th was very successful. All the patients that saw Cathy came out with rave reviews. Cathy will hold a clinic once per month on the 3rd Thursday. At this time that clinic is full. Going forward we will not allow patients to book for the next month at the time of their appointment. In order to be fair to the entire community we will take reservations for the next clinic on the Monday following the scheduled clinic.
The next Men’s Group meeting will be held on Thursday, June 26th at 9:00 AM. All men 60+ are welcome.
The MS Support Group will hold its monthly meeting next Monday, June 16th at 10:00 AM. This group is open the public.
The Council on Aging will hold its regular monthly meeting next Wednesday, June 18th at 12:30 PM in the conference room. All are welcome to attend.
The Silverstone’s will hold its monthly dance at the Senior Center on Friday, June 20th beginning at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door at $10 per person. Why not come on down and listen to the great big band sounds of our in-house band.
DJ Jon Mansfield will be back to the Senior Center for an afternoon dance on Monday, June 23rd. Those who obtain a ticket by June 18th will have lunch included in the $6 tickets price.
A trip to Hampton Beach is being planned for June 25th. The cost will be $15 per person. The trip will be to see the sand castles and the Continental’s will be playing at the bandstand that evening. Bus will leave the Senior Center at 3:00PM and Leave Hampton Beach at 10:00PM. Dinner will be on one’s own.
Tickets are on sale now for the July 7th Foxwood’s trip. The cost of this trip is $30 per person and includes motor coach transportation, a casino package and the driver gratuity.
The GAC will be holding their annual cookout on July 8th , for members only. Tickets are $8.00 per person. The GAC dues are $10 for June 2014 to June 2016. This event helps to benefit the scholarships given to the TMHS students and the Shawsheen Tech students. Come in soon to secure your tickets for this event. On this day there will be no regular bingo.
Boston Duck Tour! The senior center is planning a trip for July 9th. The tour will be followed by lunch at the Hard Rock Café. The cost is $65 per person and the seating is limited. Come in soon to secure your spot.
The Seniors and Friends will hold a YARD SALE at the Senior Center on Saturday, July 26th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Table space is available to the general public at $15 per table or two tables for $25. There will be 30 tables of treasures, a bake table, and luncheon specials featuring Chef Nick's corn chowder. The Yard Sale is held rain or shine. The public is welcome and admission is free. Mark your calendars for this big event.
Lastly, the public is reminded that the Senior Center’s Upscale Consignment Boutique and the Snooti Patooti Gift Shop are open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday- Thursday and on Fridays from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. All proceeds from the shops support the programs and activities at the Senior Center.
