No Fireworks In Tewksbury This July 4th

Jun 15, 2014 07:19PM ● By Bill Gilman
There will be no fireworks in Tewksbury for this July 4th.
Patrick Holland, chairman of the Friends of Tewksbury Patriotic Activity Committee, made the announcement in an e-mail on Sunday afternoon.
"Unfortunately we were not able to secure enough donations for both the Memorial Day Parade and the fireworks," wrote Holland. "As you are aware we were able to have the parade but due to funding issues we had to reduce the size of the parade. We are in the process of coming up with some fundraising  ideas for next years events and hopefully we will be able to obtain enough donations to fund both of these community activities."
The FOTPAC has sponsored the parade and the fireworks for the past several years, through fundraising events and direct contributions from multiple community business leaders, including developer and Tewksbury Country Club owner Marc Ginsburg, The Atamian Family of Atamian Volkswagen Honda and Stephen McKallagat of Schlott Tire.
At this point, it also does not appear there will be a Fourth of July celebration at the Tewksbury Recreation Area on Livingston Street. Presently, the Community Activities Committee is making plans for a Harvest Fair in the fall with a wide array for family friendly activities.
The Tewksbury Chapter of the Sons of Italy has also scheduled an Italian Festival on Aug. 2 on Livingston Street with food, games, live entertainment and family activities.
