A band of severe weather is rolling through the Merrimack Valley this afternoon and this evening, prompting tornado warnings throughout the region.
The first band, which passed through between 5-5:30 p.m., brought with it heavy rain and lightning. An funnel cloud has been reported but not confirmed in the Lynn area. Wind gusts of up to 49 mph have been reported.
However, the fast-moving front was not alone. Radar indicates a second wave of storms was hitting Worcester just before 6 p.m. heading in a northeasterly directly. It's expected to bring a new wave of thunderstorms through the Merrimack Valley this evening.
According to the National Weather service, flash flooding is possible, as is hail and dangerous wind gusts.
We'll keep following story and update as more information becomes available.
