Hazel guest speaker at Firefighting Academy graduation
Tewksbury Fire Chief Mike Hazel was the guest speaker last week at the graduation ceremony for the 214th class of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy, according to an article in the MetroWest Daily News.
Among the 22 graduated was Daniel R. Morneault of the Tewksbury Fire Department.
New fire trucks are late arriving
Two fire engines, which the Tewksbury Fire Department recently purchased for just over $330,000, will be arriving at least a few weeks late, according to an article in the Town Crier. According to Chief Mike Hazel, there was a delay at the factory. The engines will replace two that became less than road-worthy last year.
A tough loss, but Tewksbury football team advances
The Tewksbury entry in the Under Armour 7-on-7 North Regional fell, 16-8, to St. John's Prep in the championship game. However, that second place finish was good enough for Tewksbury to advance to the New England Championships on July 30 at Bishop Fenwick, according to a story on ESPN.com high school blog.
Homeless man banned from all libraries for offering sex
A 41-year-old homeless man has been banned from all public libraries in the state as part of a plea deal in Lowell District Court. Michael Crosby pleaded guilty to offering sex for a fee in the bathroom of the Tewksbury Library, according to an article in the Lowell Sun. Tewksbury Police say Crosby had placed a Craig's list ad offering sex for $10-$20 in the library bathroom.
