Police Log: Maple Street Crash Leads To Arrest

According to a police report, dispatch received a 911 call just before 4 a.m., reporting that a car had slammed into a utility pole near the intersection of Maple and East Streets.
Police and rescue crews responded to the scene and found a car driven by Lewis J. McGrath, 28, 5 Dragon Court, Woburn. McGrath was not seriously injured in the crash and did not require hospitalization. However, the report indicates he was uncooperative with responding officers.
McGrath was placed under arrest, charged with OUI-liquor, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, marked lanes violation and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
Russell R. Jean, 19, 945 Riverside Drive, Apt. 11B, Methuen, was arrested on Saturday, Aug. 2 and charged with OUI-liquor negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Matthew McMahon, 38, 13 Wheeling Ave., Woburn, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 1 and charged with domestic assault and battery.
Sunday, Aug. 3, 3:25 a.m. -- A 911 caller reported a loud argument going on at a Lancaster Drive address. Officers responded to the scene and placed a 27-year-old man into protective custody.
Friday, Aug. 1, 5:58 p.m. -- A Mitchell G. Drive resident called police to report a bird had gotten trapped in her house. An officer responded to the scene and was able to help the bird escape.
Friday, Aug. 1, 10:21 p.m. -- A 911 caller from the Motel Caswell reported hearing a woman screaming for help. Officers responded to the scene and spoke to two residents who said they heard a woman and saw a woman banging on their window. Officers searched but could not find the woman in the area.
