WCVB Ch. 5 is reporting that DeMoulas made the offer on Sunday but has not yet received a response from company officials.
If Arthur T. were allowed to come back to work, it would seemingly put an end to the ongoing DeMoulas/Market Basket employees rebellion.
The rebellion, which has included a strike by warehouse workers and drivers, sickouts and refusals by store managers to accept food deliveries, is in its third week. Store shelves are virtually empty and the company is losing upwards of $10 million a day. Workers have demanded that Arthur T. be re-hired or his buyout offer be accepted.
The DeMoulas CEO's have threatened to fire employees if business does not return to normal on Monday, Aug. 4. To that end, they have scheduled a job fair at the company's Andover facility, Aug. 4-6.
Employees have responded by scheduling another rally for Tuesday at 11 a.m.
Several managers, fired by DeMoulas at the onset of the rebellion, have said they plan to sue the company for wrongful termination.
