Aug 23, 2014 02:15PM ● By Bill Gilman
A Tewksbury man was injured Friday afternoon when he lost control and crashed his ATV, while driving it through a wooded area at the Frasca Fields youth soccer complex off North Street.
The man, described as being in his 20s, was found bleeding from his head by a young couple walking their dogs. One of the dog walkers used his shirt to help stop the bleeding while waiting for the rescue crews to arrive.
According to dispatch radio transmissions, the victim was also experiencing pain in his chest area.
Ambulance and paramedic crews arrived and treated the victim at the scene. He was then transported to Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
The accident took place in a small, wooded area separating the fields. The gate to Frasca Fields was locked at the time of the accident and recreational motor vehicles like ATVs are not allowed at the facility.
