Tewksbury will pay tribute to the men and women who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, with a public ceremony Thursday, at 7 p.m. at the 9/11 Memorial, located in front of the Tewksbury Library on Chandler Street.
This will be the 13th year the town has held a ceremony on the anniversary of the attacks, which claimed the lives of 93 Massachusetts residents, including Peter Gay and Peter Hashem of Tewksbury. The event is organized each year by the Tewksbury 9-11 Memorial Committee.
Gay's daughter, Larissa, will speak at Thursday's event, as she has for each of the 12 ceremonies previously. The keynote speaker will be New York City 9/11 Tribute Center Board Member Joan Mastropaolo,
Also participating in the event will be the Tewksbury Interfaith Choir, local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, the Tewksbury Police and Fire Department Honor Guards, the Tewksbury High Band and TMHS vocalist Madeline Burgoyne.
