First Fall Harvest Fair Will Bring Town Together, Sunday, Sept. 14

Sep 12, 2014 03:51PM ● By Bill Gilman
The plans have been made, the final details have been worked out and the weather even looks like it will cooperate.
On Sunday, residents, family and friends will gather at the Livingston Street Recreation Complex for the first Tewksbury Fall Harvest Festival. By all accounts, it will be the largest festival in the town's history.
The fair will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be spread across the recreation fields on the south side of the complex. The event is being organized by the Town Events and Celebrations Committee. But there has been help from numerous volunteers, according to committee member Cheryl Gay.
Dozens of local businesses are participating in the event, which will give fair-goers plenty of opportunities for shopping, eating, playing, winning and just plain having fun.
Food vendors will include Angelina's Restaurant, Anthony's Roast Beef, Bollywood, Dean's Concessions, Jimbo's Roast Beef, Jon Ryan's Pubs, Kona Ice, Kyoto's Steakhouse, Mimzee's Ice Cream, Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt and TJ Callahan's.
TJ Callahan's will be the ceterpiece of the food offerings, with a food and alcohol tent area. The area will be fenced in and no one under 21 will be allowed inside.
There will be numerous games and activities for children, including two bouncy houses, sack races, egg races, hula hoops, a dunk tank, an obstacle course and a trackless train ride.
For those who enjoy expressing their creative side, their will be sin art, cupcake decorating and pumpkin decorating.
Gay pointed out that while some of the activities are free to participate, others require tickets or have a nominal fee.
For the competitive, the Tewksbury High cheerleaders will be sponsoring a Cornhole Tournament to raise funds for their scholarship program. The entry fee is $20 per adult and $10 per teen (13-18). According to tournament organizer John Spinelli, there will be as many as 20 Cornhole games going on at one time.
There will also be a pie-eating contest and a Cocolate Chip Cookie Bake Off!
But that's just the start.
The fair will also feature an antique car show, the AbraKIDabra magic show by Mike Bent, Lou the Balloon Guy, face painting, Jack the Frisbee Dog, The Lowell Spinners Calaligators, Exhibitions by Dance Expressions, Tammy's Dance Connection and The Self Defense Institute.
Your Tewksbury Today will even have a booth. We will have freebies to give away, as well as a chance to win free passes to Altitude Trampoline Park in Billerica and a gift certificate from Cafe Sicilia!
