Sep 18, 2014 01:35PM ● Published by Ashley Springman

The Silverstones will hold its next monthly dance at the Senior Center on Friday, September 19th beginning at 7:00 PM.  Tickets are $10 per person and are available at the door. Why not come on down and listen to the great big sounds of our in-house band.

A Cootie Party will be held at the Senior Center on Monday, September 22nd, starting at 12:30 PM.  This is a fun card game and everyone is invited to attend.  Don't know how to play...come on down and we'll teach you.

A Volunteer Meeting will be held on 9/25 at 9:30 AM at the Senior Center.  It is highly recommended that current volunteers come to the meeting as a refresher.  If you are not already a volunteer and would like to learn how your experiences and skills could be utilized here please join us and learn about all the opportunities that await you.

The Red Hat Carnation Belles will have Buffalo Bingo Night on September 25th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.   The cost is $5 per Belle.  There will be beverages and sweets.  Don’t forget your $3 in nickels and good luck.

The Friends of the Elderly will hold a YARD SALE at the Senior Center on Saturday, September 27th from 9 AM to 2 PM. Table space is available to the general public at $15 per table or two tables for $25. There will be 30 tables of treasures, a bake table, and luncheon specials featuring Chef Nick's corn chowder.  The Yard Sale is held rain or shine. The public is welcome and admission is free.

DJ Jon Mansfield will be back to the Senior Center for an afternoon dance on Monday, September 29th.  Those who obtain a ticket by September 24th will have lunch included in the $6 tickets price.

We are working on an interest list for 3 upcoming day trips.  A trip to the Kancamagus with lunch included in October.  A trip to see the Festival of Trees in Methuen in November and a show at the Stoneham Theatre in December.  If you are interested in going on any or all of these trips please stop by the Senior Center to add your name to the list.

The Council on Aging is assisting Tewksbury’s Senior Citizens with Fuel Assistance Applications.  Seniors may call Jan at 978-640-4482 to make an appointment and find out what information he/she needs to bring when applying. Household income guidelines for eligibility are as follows:  1 person $32,065; 2 people $41,932; 3 people $51,798; 4 people $61,664. The public is reminded that the Senior Center’s Upscale Consignment Boutique and the Snooti Patooti Gift Shop have some great deals! All proceeds from the shops support the programs and activities at the Senior Center. The Snooti Patooti’s hours have changed to Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm. The Upscale Consignment Shoppes hours remain Monday- Thursday 11am-3pm and Friday 9-11am. The shops are also open during our special events!

The Senior Center was accepted into this year’s Applefest Craft fair, taking place at the Tewksbury Memorial High School on Saturday October 25th, from 9am-3pm. If you would like us to include your crafts at this event, please contact COA Director Ashley Stuart at the number listed above.
