Tewksbury Youth Soccer.
The Tewksbury boys won their fifth game of the season with a rain soaked 3-0 victory over Lowell. Tewksbury controlled much of the first half, but had a tough time getting on the scoreboard. They had a great opportunity when Evan Mendonca played a nice ball across the net and Daniel Sullivan barely missed his shot, bouncing it off the post. The defense of Derek Nazarro and Shea Moynihan thwarted Lowell’s attempts at offense. Tewksbury was able to get on the board shortly before halftime when Cade Barron slipped a great pass through the defense that was finished by Joshua Pinto. Just after the goal, Lowell passed the ball up field and earned a quality shot. Pressure by goalie Cole Evangelista forced the shot to miss. Tewksbury continued to control the game in the second half. Early in the half, Dylan Paulding stole a Lowell pass and scored unassisted. Chris Johnston and Michael Carlson worked together to get a few scoring chances that were saved by the Lowell goalkeeper. George DeGregorio closed the scoring for Tewksbury after stealing the ball deep in Lowell territory. Pinto’s strong goalkeeping in the second half preserved the shutout.
Tewksbury GU10-5 (3) vs Melrose (2)
A great team effort in a 3-2 win by the Tewksbury U10-5 this week. Delia Conte, Kelli Anderson, Julia Carlson, and Gianna Flynn all played great getting the job done with nice passing and goals on offense. Christa Giansiracusa, Alex Civitarese , and Alexis Rooney had some strong defensive plays stopping the Melrose attacks. They were down 2-1 but never gave up and worked as a team to get the win!
