Redmen Sink Middies, 42-7, Prepare To Host Danvers Playoffs

Defending Division 3 State Champion Tewksbury High gathered some momentum heading into the State Tournament with a 42-7 pounding of Dracut on Saturday at Doucette Field.
Jimmy Hirtle scored on touchdown runs of 38 and 4 yards to lead the way for the Redmen, who finish the regular season at 5-2. James Sullivan scored on a two-yard touchdown run and added a highlight-reel 98-yard kickoff return for another score.
Dracut did not provide the Redmen with much of a test. Tewksbury grabbed a 28-7 lead at halftime and coasted.
Quarterback Brett Morris connected with Ryan Bednarek on a 35-yard touchdown pass and Troy Carey got into the scoring column on a nine-yard TD run.
Tewksbury is seeded third in the Northeast Sectional. The Redmen will host No. 6 Danvers in a first-round game next weekend.
