To The Editor:
Tewksbury needs someone in the State Senate to advocate for working families and seniors and secure more local aid for our schools and roads. Our State Senator must know our community well and be trusted bring our concerns to Beacon Hill. It is for these reasons that I am enthusiastically supporting Barbara L’Italien for State Senate.
I have seen Barbara knocking on doors across Tewksbury and have accompanied her to many events all over town. Throughout the campaign, she has not been telling us what she wants to do, she’s asking us what we want to see happen and engaging in conversation about how to make it a reality.
Barbara understands our local needs and concerns regarding our high sewer and water rates. She knows that local aid is essential to thriving communities and will ensure proper investment in our infrastructure. She sees that Route 38 is the gateway to our town and is in need of additional redevelopment. Barbara will be our champion for the much needed aid so that new businesses can thrive and people outside of town will see Tewksbury as a destination for small and medium sized businesses.
As a mom of four kids, Barbara prioritizes education. She wants to make sure Tewksbury schools have the resources they need for our kids to succeed in public school, and prepare them for college and the workplace.
Barbara also has business smarts. She was instrumental in developing and implementing the small business banking partnership, which put loan money into the hands of small business owners to help them make ends meet. She was supportive of the employees of Market Basket during their protest, and strives to ensure that employers like Market Basket stay in the Merrimack Valley to create good jobs in supportive work environments. No matter what the opposition says, she has good tax policy. She’s against indexing the gas tax to inflation, and has been a strong supporter of sales tax holidays and the repeal of the alcohol tax.
I know Barbara will be a strong voice for Tewksbury and she has my vote for State Senate on November 4th. I hope she has earned your vote too.
