To the Editor:
According to the 2010 Census, seniors (60 and over) are the fastest growing segment of our population.
Many are property owners, whose real estate taxes contribute to a stable tax base for our municipalities. Many are also volunteers; their donated hours provide services to residents at no cost to taxpayers.
The aging of the Baby Boomers will have a significant social and economic impact on our communities. Issues regarding transportation, housing and elder care will need to be addressed, and quickly, to adequately meet our seniors' needs.
Alex Vispoli understands the challenges facing the elder population as their numbers increase. Slowing down tax increases and providing essential services will be essential. He's the only candidate who understands the significant economic consequences of this shift in population growth, and as a State senator, he will be a tireless advocate for seniors. Please join me in supporting Alex on November 4th.
