To the Editor:
I am writing to encourage my fellow residents to join me and support Barbara L'Italien for State Senate. Barbara is a skilled legislator and has the knowledge and drive to work hard for Tewksbury to get things done.
In Tewksbury we have a number of issues that will require strong collaboration with our state delegation, whether it is the state hospital and PILOT funds to reimburse our public safety outlays or the desperate need to acquire funding to improve Route 38. Bringing a piece of legislation through the entire process requires determination.
It is easy to throw out proposals and policy suggestions, but in the end, someone must advocate, negotiate, and drive a piece of legislation to the Governor's desk. Barbara has proven that she is that person, not only in her previous service in the State Legislature, but also while working for the Treasurer's office. She has shepherded important legislation through Beacon Hill, working across the political aisle to bring important policies forward and get them implemented.
Most important to me, Barbara is straightforward and honest about the hard decisions when it comes to our state budget. We would all love to live in a world where we could cut taxes, increase local aid, and provide more services to our residents. However the reality is that we must pay for the government we demand, and Barbara will make the difficult decisions to make sure our tax dollars are spent responsibly and in the most efficient way. Barbara L'Italien is the right choice for Tewksbury in the State Senate and I ask that you join me in voting for her on November 4th.
