Two 'No Pipeline!' Hikes Scheduled For This Weekend

No Pipeline! Hike on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 10 A.M. at Retelle and Deer Jump reservations

The first No Pipeline! Hike will be held on Saturday, November 8, 10 A.M. on the Avis’s Deer Jump and the Town’s Retelle reservations to call attention to opposition to the Kinder Morgan/Tennessee Gas/Northeast Direct  High Pressure pipeline proposed to go through seven miles of Andover and then on through Tewksbury. The hike is organized by AVIS (Andover Village Improvement Society), one of the oldest land trusts in this country, and the Andover Conservation Commission. The fracked natural gas pipeline will travel through 3.5 miles of protected open space and more than 1.7 miles of residential land in Andover and Tewksbury, (through 120 residential properties), including near the Wood Hill and High Plain schools. Please meet on Brundrett Road off River Road. The hike will call attention to land near the access to the town's public water supply, protected open space and the Merrimack River. Fred Snell of AVIS will lead. 

 No Pipeline! Hike on Sunday Nov. 9, 1:00 P.M. at Nat Smith Reservation in West Andover

The second No Pipeline! Hike will be Sunday, November 9, 1:30 P.M. at AVIS’s Nat Smith Reservation at the end of Berkeley Lane, to call attention to opposition to the Kinder Morgan/Tennessee Gas/Northeast Direct High Pressure pipeline proposed to go through more than seven miles of Andover then on through Tewksbury. The hike is organized by AVIS (Andover Village Improvement Society), one of the oldest land trusts in this country, and the Andover Conservation Commission. The fracked natural gas pipeline will travel through 3.5 miles of protected open space, including the Nat Smith Reservation, and more than 1.7 miles of residential land in Andover and Tewksbury, (through 120 residential properties), including near the Wood Hill and High Plain schools. Meet at the end of Berkeley Lane. (Bailey Rd. to Wellington Circle. Mike Timko, president of AVIS, will lead.
