NEW INFORMATION: Teen Seriously Injured In Log Splitter Accident

A  Billerica teen is being treated at an area hospital after being seriously injured in a log splitter accident Saturday afternoon.
The 17-year-old boy, whose name has not been released, sustained a "traumatic hand injury" in the accident, according to a source with knowledge of the accident. The accident took place just after 12:30 p.m. at APC Truck Service, 53 Highland Ave.
A Med-Flight helicopter was requested but was cancelled.
According to the source, the boy was taken by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital. 
OSHA was notified about the accident. Billerica Police notified the victim's family.
