Road Work On I-93 To Close Lanes Sunday

Nov 22, 2014 10:40PM ● By Bill Gilman
(Editor's Note: The following information was submitted by the State Highway Department.)

On Sunday, November 23rd, the right lane and breakdown lane on I-93 northbound and southbound will be closed at varying times between 9 AM and 4 PM to allow work crews to install pavement markings between Exit 37C (Commerce Way) and Exit 41 (Ballardvale Street/Route 125).

The work will commence on I-93 northbound and then shift to I-93 southbound.  Following those work activities, there will be isolated, short term ramp closures within this section of I-93 to allow work crews to install pavement markings for the entrance and exit ramps.  During the ramp closures, affected traffic will be detoured to the next interchange.

This safety critical work is being scheduled for daytime operations as forecasted night time temperatures and weather conditions are not within acceptable tolerances.

MassDOT encourages drivers to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.  Drivers that must travel through the affected areas should allow for extra time and use caution while approaching and traveling through the work zone.

The work is part of a $16.4 Million project to resurface and rehabilitate this section of I-93.
