Obituary: John M. Pierce, 93

Born in Somerville on November 12, 1921, he was the son of the late John A. and Helen (Cooper) Pierce. He was a graduate of Somerville High School and resided in Tewksbury for the majority of his life.
He worked as a carpenter for many years and belonged to the Massachusetts Local Carpenter’s Union until his retirement. John was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a former member of the South Fitchburg Hunting and Fishing Club. John enjoyed singing especially songs from the Big Band era. Above all he was a man who was well liked, easy to be around and also had bright and infectious smile.
John is survived by his five children, John H. Pierce of Claremont, NH, Arthur E. Pierce and his wife, Cindy of Millis, Robert R. Pierce of Tewksbury, Janet R. Randolph of Lowell and Marion Gilcreast and her husband, Robert F. of Amherst, NH; ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A Funeral service for John will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd at 11 a.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9 – 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
