Popular Tewksbury Contractor Closing Up Shop
A successful local contractor is preparing to close up shop for good.
L.J. DiPalma, Inc., which has been in business 45 years and has built some of Tewksbury’s more noteworthy housing developments, has filed for Chapter Seven bankruptcy protection.
Company owner Maureen Dipalma, told the Lowell Sun the bankruptcy was made necessary, in large part, because of an ongoing lawsuit, originally filed in 2006.
Among the housing developments constructed by DiPalma over the years are DiPalma Estates, Waterford Meadows and Emerald Court. Most recently, the firm completed Wells Estates, on Wells Drive, just off Whipple Road.
DiPalma has been honored by her peers as a leader in the field of construction. In 2004, she was the first woman honored as Home Builder of the Year by the Northeast Builder's Association of Massachusetts, according to the report in the Sun. In 2012, she was honored with the "Legend of the Industry Award," by the Home Builders Association of Massachusetts.
