According to owner Darlene DiSalvo, many people make the mistake of thinking her store is simply a children's consignment shop. But 30 seconds after walking through the door, a visitor knows how wrong that notion is.
Within moments you've caught a glimpse of the formal wear, the purses, the women's clothing, the sneakers, the clothing for American Girl Dolls, the CHOCOLATE and the Bling! Oh, so much sparkly bling!
"I think my store is unique. We've got a wide variety of items," said DiSalvo. "There's nothing in town like it and our prices are very cheap."
DiSalvo, who lives in Tewksbury with her husband and two little girls, ages 6 and 8 (2 Bellaz), started her career in business selling items on EBay. She opened 2 Bellaz Clozet in 2012 at 853 Main St., near Tewksbury Hardware. But she never felt the location was "just right" for her store and in April, she relocated to Claddagh Plaza at 1215 Main St.
"This is a much better location for us. It's a better space," said DiSalvo.
As a local mom with young children, DiSalvo tries to keep a finger on the pulse of the community. The variety of items in her store reflects an awareness of the trends, passions and likes of residents, especially women and girls.
"My passion has always been about clothing, designs and children's clothes," she said.
Clothing in the store is a mix of children and adult, with women's plus sizes up to 22. Some is consignment but some is new. She's recently begun to increase her focus on formal wear, hoping to offer girls and women a lower cost alternative to high-priced gowns.
In August, DiSalvo added a Chocolate Counter, featuring home made chocolates created by Samachocolatier.com of New Hampshire.
But if you want to see DiSalvo break into an excited smile, ask her about the bling. 2 Bellaz Clozet has a wide selection of handcrafted head bows, cheer bows and headbands, along with sneakers and purses. All of which can be custom designed with the glitz, sparkled and glitter of the customer's choice.
"I do a lot of work with cheerleaders and dancers. And we do a lot of Spirit Day stuff for the schools," said DiSalvo. "We'll do custom design on shirts, sneakers, pocketbooks, just about anything.
"It's very exciting to see someone around town wearing one of my bows."
Not all of the clothes and designs in the store are for humans. DiSalvo offers a wide selection of clothing and accessories for the American Girl Dolls, which remain white-hot with pre-teens and collectors.
2 Bellaz Clozet, 1215 Main St. Tewksbury, is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
