A 26-year-old Tewksbury man is facing charges after allegedly stealing donation money earmarked to buy presents for underprivileged children at Christmas.
Andover Police arrested Jesse Bionelli,1392 Andover St., Tewksbury, Thursday afternoon, after he allegedly swiped a donation can full of cash from off the counter at Barron's Country Store, Route 133, Andover, according to a report published by the Eagle-Tribune.
The donations were part of a community project at Central Catholic High School. The exact amount stolen was undetermined but store owner
Brenda Himmer-Barron said the can was filled and that she and her daughter intended to drop it off at the high school later that same day, according to the report.
Police caught up with Bionelli and made the arrest just two hours after the alleged crime but the money was already gone, according to the Eagle-Tribune article.
Bionelli was expected to be arraigned in Lawrence District Court on Friday, charged with larceny from a building.
