Holy Cross freshman forward Aly Spencer (Tewksbury, Mass.) was named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Co-Rookie of the Year, as voted on by the women's soccer head coaches at the 90 member schools. Spencer shared the laurel with Northeastern freshman Hannah Lopiccolo.
Spencer, who also was named to the NEWISA All-New England and NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic second teams, as well as being selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Year, played and started in all 18 games and recorded 11 goals and three assists for 25 total points, including five game-winning goals. Her goals, points and game-winning goals marks all led the Patriot League. Spencer also became the 14th player in program history to record a hat trick on Aug. 25, and for her efforts earned the Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Player of the Week Award on Sept. 2.
Spencer's goals and points totals are tied for third and fifth, respectively, in the Holy Cross single-season record book. She was twice named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week in 2014.
