Sonics 37, Pacers 19
The Sonics came away with their second victory of the season as they faced the mighty Pacers.
Our defense did a great job today as Alicia Barbeti and Amber Buttaro (4) ripped down multiple rebounds and made some great passes out for the fast break. Michaela Svendsen (12) and Abby Naughler together sealed off the middle letting nothing inside and Abby managed to grab three rebounds that she put right back up before having to leave the game due to an injury. Jessica Caredeo(5) and Alexis Hillis each played a fantastic game as they both made strong drives to the net and kept the defense on their toes. Point guards Christine Santos(6) and Felicia Ragucci(10) took charge on the court moving the ball through a tough Pacer press and fed the ball to their team. Great teamwork Sonics!
Sonics 37, Pacers 19
The Pacers still looking for their first win of the season played a strong game but came up short against a talented Sonics crew. A low scoring 1st quarter saw the Pacers go down 8-2. Mercy Olu notched 3 blocked shots in the quarter to stop the Sonics attack. Scoring opened up in the second but unfortunately on both sides of the ball and the team trailed by 7 at halftime. Elizabeth Lam had 3 steals in the quarter and Kendall Donahoe turned away three shots. However in the 3rd, the Pacers battled hard with an effective press and behind 4 steals by Kerry Shea the lead was cut to three entering the 4th. In the 4th the Sonics put out a very strong lineup that proved too much to handle. Marissa Ladderbush and Lam combined for 8 shots in the quarter but only one found the net. Scoring for the Pacers was Ladderbush with 6, Emily Langone with 4, Shea, Sansan Nguyen, Lam, and Ashley Turri each with 2 and Olu with 1. Leading rebounder was Langone with 6 followed by Lam with 5 and Donahoe with 4. Shea led the team in steals followed by Lam.
Blazers 32, vs. Spurs 37
It was a tough game to play, and the Spurs just played a little harder to come up with the win. However, the Blazers played their all and put up a good fight. Haley Mignon was the high scorer with 13 points. She did an amazing job on her fast breaks and stealing the ball from the Spurs. Following up with 10 points was Hannah Knoops. She killed it was her jump shots. Briana Walker and Lauren McIntyre both scored 4 points and made awesome plays. Emily Milne made a critical free throw and added a point to the board. She also tied up the ball quite often and played really good D. The game was so close due to the Blazers amazing defense. Bianca Bongiorno was the defensive player or the game. She was so scrappy and hustling up and down the court. Rachel Conway and Samantha LaLonde both stayed big and kept their hands up to defend the basket. Awesome job ladies! Keep up the great work!
Suns 25, Jazz 22
The Jazz worked their way back in the second half from a big deficit, but simply ran out of time and just fell short to the Suns this weekend. Emily Chmela (6) and Becca Smith (6) were spot on and our leaders on offense this week. Jordyn Cavicchi (4), Leanne Durham (4) and Melissa Keeley (2) were also contributors to our tough fight back. Leading in the assists column were Izzy Picher, Grace Morris and Hannah Maffeo. Outstanding job on defense in the second half by Helen Johnson and Bianca Araya kept the Suns scoring to a minimum.
Mercury 8, Storm 18
Week 4 of the JR Girls Basketball had Team Storm Playing Team Mercury. Storm started strong with some great passing from Madelyn Montejo to set up Gianna Ciampa (12 points) and Erin Morgan (2) points. The Defense was lead by Alyssa Wallace playing center and Olivia Satterfield at guard making some nice blocks and steals. Mercury was playing hard but ran into Kyla McGilvery and Brooke Bunyan who were both playing some great defense as well with their hands up and covering the ball. As the 2nd half was coming to a close, Grace Dockery found the basket (2 points) with some fast ball control up and down the court as well as Madison Kearney (2 points) to help Storm win their 1st game of the season. Great Job by all, nice TEAM effort.
Sparks vs. Liberty
It was another gritty win for the Sparks on Saturday. They defeated a well coached Liberty team 8 to 4, where defense was the focus of the game. The Sparks defense was led by Madison, Carrina, Emily, Maisan, Lauren, Lindsey. Their scoring output came from a season high 6 points from Caleigh and 2 points from Aliana. Look for another good team performance from them this upcoming weekend.
Rockers 28, Comets 8
Rockers high scorers for the game were Gabriella Navarette and Isabella DeMatos, who each had 10 points. Victoria Catanzano and Sadie Basile had several steals and assists. Forwards Darya Mehrabani (2), Erica Hinkle (4) and Isabella DeSisto (2) scored off some great rebounding.
Eagles 26, Terriers 33
The soaring Eagles stayed with the Terriers for the first half but fell a little short in the end. Gianna Ragucci had a stellar outing scoring 17 points. Alexis Foley (6) and Alexa Harrington (3) rounded out the scoring efforts. Maegan Marshall led the way with the offensive rebounds almost scoring several times. Jaime Burns grabbed a couple of crucial rebounds preventing additional baskets. Emma Fleming and Brianna Iandoli were solid in the shooting guard position generating some turnovers. Rose Strobel continues to be a defensive powerhouse in the forward position. The Eagles continue to improve each week and remain committed to each other on the court.
Jayhawks 29 Huskies 22
The Jayhawks started strong against the talented Huskies team, taking a 10-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Huskies offense battled back in the 2nd and their strong defense held the Jayhawks to 2 points, to put the Huskies ahead 12-11. The Jayhawks continued to struggle offensively in the 3rd quarter and went into the 4th quarter down 19-16. The Jayhawks pulled it together in the 4th quarter with excellent passing and tough team defense and scored 13 points, to come away with a 29-22 victory. Leading the scoring for the Jayhawks was Becca DeFrancesco with 9 points, Angelina Carew, Rachel Lemus and Meghan Ostertag with 4 points each, and Jennie Asselin, Mikayla Dec, Madison Robillard and Katherine Marquis all with 2 points each. Caitlyn Fiore had a good defensive game, with several steals and a blocked shot. Defensive players of the game were Mikayla Dec and Angelina Carew.

All around team scoring was again the key with: Asha Speller (16), Adrianna Niles (6), Melanie Crepeau (4), Shannon Crowley (2), Alex Fowler (2), and Molly O'Neill (2). Erin McIntyre and Alyssa Boudreau lead with terrific assists. Great team defense from all the girls
