Joseph A. Polcari Sr., 86
LAWRENCE - Joseph A. Polcari Sr., age 86, a former District Fire Chief in Somerville, died Christmas Day, at the Lawrence General Hospital. He was the beloved husband for 62 years of Nathalie M. (Mori) Polcari who died on March 7, 2013.
He was born in Boston, May 15, 1928, the son of the late Gaetano and Josephine (Martignetti) Polcari. He lived the greater part of his life in Somerville, and after his retirement in 1973 from the Somerville Fire Department, had lived in Tewksbury since 1975, where he attended St. Dorothy’s Church in Wilmington. He and his late wife had wintered in Lake Worth, Florida from 1980 until 2008. They returned from Florida in 2008 and settled in Lawrence where they were communicants of St. Patrick’s Parish in Lawrence.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph A. Polcari Jr, and his wife Linda (Matthews) Polcari of Pepperell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna J. Valladares and her husband Rodney of Lawrence, Lisa A. Emmons of Lawrence, and her late husband, Scott F. Emmons; a son-in-law, Michael Coyle of Tewksbury, who was the husband of the late Marie T. (Polcari) Coyle; five grandchildren, Matteo Polcari, Eric and Gina Coyle, Joanne and Rodney Valladares Jr; three great grandchildren, Nina, Tyler, and Mason; a sister, Gilda DiGregorio and her husband Frank of Medford; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours Tuesday morning, Dec. 30, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, phone (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950, followed by a Funeral Mass Monday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 114 So. Broadway, Lawrence. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.
