The first time I used powder makeup on my face, I was very confused. It didn't give me an airbrushed look like all the other girls all over Instagram and everywhere else I looked. Instead, it looked pretty gross. If you think about a girl with caked-on concealer, that's what I looked like. I had good quality products too! You could clearly see the makeup on my face, along with what I thought looked like skin craters. Or like swiss cheese, whichever one blows your hair back. It turns out my pores were just HUGE.
;a minute opening in a surface, especially the skin or integument of an organism, through which gases, liquids, or microscopic particles can pass.
That sounds lovely, right? Having big or small pores makes a huge difference on your face, whether its for cleanliness or just beauty. I tried so many different pore shrinkers and nose strips and all kinds of cleansers you can think off, but nothing worked. Then I tried baking soda, because I heard it could be used for almost anything, and it worked! Which is why I try to tell everyone about it.
The best way to begin is to exfoliate. I personally use Clean&Clear Daily Pore Cleanser which I uploaded a picture of so you can see the specific one I use. It has little beads in it to scrub off any dirt, dead skin, or anything else that could be clogging up your pores.
So wet your face with lukewarm water, use your facial scrub, give it a couple minutes to sink in (I usually brush my teeth), then rinse it off.
Pour some baking soda into your hand - a good amount, because you're going to cover your entire face with it. There's a picture attached so you can get an idea of the amount I use.
Add a tiny bit of water too it until it becomes a thick paste. It'll take you a few times to get it to the perfect amount of pastey-ness that you like. Apply it to your face, SOFTLY. Don't scrub it!! Use light, circular motions until your entire face is evenly covered. It's going to look a little something like the picture of me with my "It's not swagger I'm just sore" shirt.
Now I like to leave the baking soda on for at least a solid 5 minutes. It's best to do this every other day, so it's smart to do it before you get in the shower, then shampoo your hair and whatnot. You might feel it start to tingle, but it shouldn't bother you. After the times up, rinse off your face with lukewarm water again.
Dab your face with a soft towel to dry it off. Don't rub! Make sure not to pat your face downwards, because that's where gravity is trying to take it anyways, so no need to make it worse! To finish it off, moisturize. There is a difference between body and face lotions, so make sure to use the right one!
Do you see the little dots in your face now? No? Good, that was the whole point! And you won't even see them when your put any kind of face makeup on. Not to mention that it helps with all types of other imperfections like acne, rosacea, etc.Best secret weapon ever!! Feel free to e-mail me about your experience and visit my Instagram @BeautyByGabi.
