You know the old saying, "There's now way to stop amanda Conway, you just have to hope to contain her."
Apparently there is no way to contain her either.
On Saturday, Conway tied a Girls Hockey State Record with NINE goals, leading the Tewksbury/Menthuen Red Rangers past Concord-Carlisle, 12-6, in a Dual County/Merrimack Valley 2 game.
According to Jim Clark of the Boston Herald, the record was set by Andrea Ciarletta of Watertown in 2003.
Only eight times in the history of Massachusetts Girls High School Hockey, has a player scored at least seven goals in a game. Conway has three of those eight, including one earlier this year. In 10 games this season, she has 31 goals. In three seasons with the Red Rangers, she has 149 goals.
Conway's explosion came just one game after she and her teammates were held scoreless in a 0-0 tie with North Andover/Pentucket/Haverhill.
Conway is on pace to match or surpass her Massachusetts single-season record of 66 goals in 22 games, set last season.
