DeNiro, Lawrence, Cooper -- Hollywood Comes Calling Again

Feb 09, 2015 11:00AM ● By Bill Gilman
Over the last few years, the Merrimack Valley has become something of a hot spot for the movie industry filming "on location."
"Grown-ups 2" did filming in Tewksbury, while films such as "The Fighter" and "Here Comes The Boom" have also filmed in the area, featuring actors such as Kevin James, Micky Rourke, Melissa Leo and Adam Sandler.
Later this month, Hollywood will once again come knocking as filming for the 20th Century Fox movie "Kay's Baptism" will take place in Wilmington. The movie, which had been using the working title, "Joy" tells the true story of Joy Magano, a Long Island single mom, whose life changed radically after inventing such gadgets as the self-wringing Miracle Mop and Huggable Hangers. These days, Magano can be seen regularly on the Home Shopping Network.
According to a post on the Facebook Page Wilmington News, the film stars two Academy Award winners -- the legendary Robert DeNiro and perhaps the most bankable star in Hollywood right now, Jennifer Lawrence. The cast also features Bradley Cooper of "American Sniper."
The film is being directed by David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle).
According to the post, some Wilmington residents have received a notification in the mail, providing a "heads up" about the film shoot.
Filming is expected to take place on Federal Street, from Thursday, Feb. 19, through Thursday, Feb. 26. In its notification to residents, the production company said it expected to use portions of Mackey Street, Flynn Way and Grant Street for its vehicles.
It has not been announced, as yet, if the film is looking for any extras for the shooting.
