An Election With No Contested Races? Very Likely

Feb 19, 2015 04:02PM ● Published by Bill Gilman

Unless something dramatic changes within the next few days, Tewksbury voters won't have to think too hard about who to support in the April Municipal Election.
With a deadline of Feb. 23 looming for candidates to submit nomination papers, there are presently no contested races on the ballot. According to Town Clerk Denise Graffeo, Tewksbury has not had a Municipal Election without at least one contested race in her 10 years working at Town Hall.
It appeared, for a time, there might be a contested race for two available seats on the Board of Selectmen. Mark Kratman announced early on he would be challenging incumbents David Gay and Scott Wilson. Gay declared for re-election but Wilson announced earlier this month he would not be seeking a third term.
Without a contested race or any ballot questions to capture the public's interest, voter participation is likely to be extremely low.
Here is the list of elected positions up for grabs in the April 11 Tewksbury Municipal Election, along with the incumbents for each position and the status of the potential candidates:
