Tewksbury Boys Hockey Earns Top Seed, Girls Seeded No. 4

Senior goaltender Kyle Paquette notched his 50th career win against Wilmington.

The Tewksbury High boys hockey team couldn't snag a berth in the Super 8 Tournament but the Redmen will roar into the Division 2 North Sectional as the No. 1 seed.
Seedings were announced Sunday for all boys and girls post-season tournaments.
The Redmen wrapped up their regular season this week, giving Austin Prep all it could handle before falling 3-0. Austin Prep was awarded the No. 3 seed in the Super 8 Tournament, behind Springfield Cathedral and Malden Catholic. Public schools that made the Super 8 were Franklin, Woburn and Burlington.
Tewksbury (16-4) tops a 15-team team in Division 2. North Reading (16-4) is No. 2, followed by Winthrop (15-3-2) and Marblehead (14-5-1).
Tewksbury gets a bye in the opening round of the tournament. They will host the winner of Concord-Carlisle vs. Gloucester in the quarterfinal round at Breakaway Ice Center on Saturday, Feb. 28.
Tewksbury/Methuen Girls Seeded No. 4 in Division 2
The Tewksbury/Methuen girls hockey team, led by the unstoppable Amanda Conway, heads into the Division 2 State Tournament as the No. 4 seed with a 14-3-1 record. All Conway did this year was shatter the single season Massachusetts goal scoring record with a ridiculous 77 goals in 18 games.
But as great as Conway is, the Red Rangers will need more than one player in a loaded 25-team Division 2 field. Unbeaten King Philip (15-0-3) has the top seed, followed by Wellesley (16-1-3) and Plymouth N&S (13-2-1).
Tewksbury/Methuen will get a first round bye. The Red Rangers will then host a Round of 16 game at a date TBD against the winner of No. 13 Martha's Vineyard (12-5-2) vs. No. 20 Fontbonne (10-6-4).
