Ice falling off the roof of this Water Street home killed a family's dog.

While the death of a family pet is often a very private matter, the McComber family is going public with their story in the hope that it might help others.
According to Michelle McComber, her Jack Russell Terrier, Dakota, was killed recently when a large chunk of ice slid off the roof of her family home on Water Street.
In an interview with WHDH Ch. 7 News, McComber said she wanted to the spread the word about what happened to help prevent another dog, or a person, being seriously injured or killed by falling ice.
"It's gonna hurt you if it doesn't kill you," McComber told reporter Kelly O'Hara.
McComber's story serves as yet another reason to make the investment of time or money to clear the snow and ice off your roof and out of your gutters.
