UPDATED: TMHS On 'Soft Lockdown' For Hour Due To Social Media Posting

Mar 05, 2015 11:53AM ● Published by Bill Gilman

Tewksbury Memorial High School was placed on a "soft lockdown" Thursday morning for approximately an hour due to a potentially threatening social media message.
The message had been posted by a female student Thursday morning and had raised concerns of school administrators, according to Tewksbury Police Lt. Robert Stephens. Officers went to the school and spoke with the student in question.
"It turned out to be a medical issue," said Stephens.
Officers stayed at the school to complete the investigation and then the lockdown was lifted. According to sources at the school, the lockdown had some impact on the class schedule and lunch schedule.
Parents received the following email message from Kristen Vogel regarding the situation:
Hi All
At 9:45 am we recieved notification from the Tewksbury Police Department that there was a threat toward the school posted on social media. It was an unsubstantiated threatand the student is no longer in school.Students and faculty are safe.We held students in place while all safety procedures and protocols were completed . Thank you for your continued support of TMHS. Best Kristen
