Tewksbury Girls Basketball League was well represented this weekend at the River Valley League girls travel playoffs at the YMCA in Plaistow, NH.

The Tewksbury 7B Redmen won their division championship with 4 tough victories.  The playoffs started early for the Redmen, who had to face a gritty Wakefield team in Wakefield on Wednesday in a play-in game. Sophie Eskenas led all scorers with 8 and Mikaela Enax with 5, but Enax owned the boards all night and wouldn't be denied.  Morgan Woodman chipped in with some key rebounds and 2 points.  Redmen 27, Wakefield 23.

Next, the team met a very tall Peabody team who had a great season, losing only twice all year.  Relentless defense and balanced scoring sealed the deal in a 35-30 victory.  Madison Bourassa (10), Gianna Bourassa (6), Sarah Milne (6) and Ashlyn Bisso (6) led the team in scoring.

Next up was a Chelmsford team that was well prepared.  More high pressure defense from the Redmen forced numerous turnovers.  Rena Ruggiero led the scoring with 7, and Meghan Ostertag had 2.

The finals was a battle against a Stoneham team who moved the ball well and matched the Redmen speed.  Forwards Gianna Bourassa (12) and Olivia Delonais (4) scored much needed points down low to help the team to the championship win.  This championship run was based on what this team has done for three years: hard work, teamwork, balanced scoring and a never-quit attitude.
