TEWKSBURY - Manuel “Manny” Pimentel, age 89, died peacefully at his home Monday evening, March 16, surrounded by his caring family, following a courageous fight with respiratory disease. He was the beloved husband of Violet (Carter) Pimentel, who died February 21, 2012.
Manny was born in Cambridge, January 12, 1926, a son of the late Manuel and Alda (Mederious) Pimentel, and was raised in Cambridge and Somerville. He had resided in Tewksbury since 1953, where he was a communicant of St. William’s Church. In his retirement years had wintered in the Park City neighborhood of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
During WWII, he served stateside in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the American Legion.
Manny began his career at the Charlestown Navy Yard, worked for 25 years as a chemical manufacturing operator for the W.R. Grace company in Cambridge, and retired as a commercial painter contractor, having formed his own company called “Manny The Painter.”
He is survived by four children, Manuel and his wife Leslie (Erickson) Pimentel Jr. of Hudson, NH, Victor and his wife Ann Marie (Galiano) Pimentel of Tewksbury, Dennis and his wife Susan (McInenery) Pimentel of Tewksbury, and Carol Lebel of Lowell; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; his sister, Alda Ricardo of Tewksbury; and was predeceased by two sisters, Geraldine Field, Mary Labinsky; and his precious tea-cup Chihuahua “Princess.”
Visiting hours Thursday, March 19, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.
