TEWKSBURY - Family Matriarch Mary C. (Grant) Vance, age 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Monday March 23rd. Mary was called home by the Lord to join her beloved husband Clyde, daughters Wendy, Carol, and her son Jeffrey.
Mary was born November 19, 1924 in Somerville, Massachusetts a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Little) Grant.
Mary was a compassionate person that spent a lifetime making family, friends and strangers alike, feel welcomed, loved and cared for. Her heart and home were always open for all. Mary's true passion was cooking and baking in preparation of hosting family & friends. Mary' s life was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring sister, wonderful grandmother , great grandmother, and special aunt.
She was raised in Somerville, later moving to Tewksbury in 1958. Mary was a graduate of Somerville High School. She worked for several years at the Windham Farms in Windham, New Hampshire up until her retirement.
She is survived by her children, Brenda J. Rich and her husband John of Pelham, N.H., Debra G. Vance and her wife Elaine of Dracut, Roger S. Vance and his wife Carol of Syracuse, N.Y., one brother, Albert Grant and his wife Kathy of Chelmsford; a sister in law, Gail Grant of Tewksbury; six grandchildren, Stacey, Laurel, Joselin, Stefanie, John, and Matthew; and three great grandsons, a great granddaughter, also many nieces and nephews.
Mary was also predeceased by her siblings, Ernest Grant, Edward Grant, Alberta Lankford, and Anna Conway, Irene Slack.
VANCE - Visiting hours will be on Wednesday March 25th , from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. A Prayer Service will follow on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
