Stacey Finnegan, Karla Branchaud, and Linda Poli wiggle their way through a tunnel partly submerged in mud.

Nearly two dozen Tewksbury moms show they are not afraid to get their hands (and everything else) dirty in the battle to defeat Muscular Sclerosis.
The women, collectively known as the "The Tough Mutha Muckers," recently participated in MuckFest, a fun, 5K race and obstacle course to raise money for MS research. Through donations gathered before the event, the team raised more than $3,000.
According to its web page (

“MuckFest MS is the fun mud and obstacle 5K for everyone. If you can laugh, you can do it. No special training required. Have a blast on mountains of mud and 18+ outrageous obstacles that will spin, swing, and fling you and your teammates up, down, and sideways. The event is built for laughs, but we’re also on a serious mission: to support people living with multiple sclerosis and to bring us closer to a world free of MS.
