TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Margaret Marie “Peggy” (Thoner) Booth, age 91, died peacefully Sunday evening, May 3, in Norton. Peggy was the beloved wife of William “Bill” Booth, who died in 1986.
She was born in Malden, November 28, 1923, a daughter of the late Fritjof A. and Mildred L. (Aker) Thoner, and was raised in Wakefield. She graduated from Wakefield High School.
She enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served during WWII.
Peggy had lived in Tewksbury since 1950, and was recognized as a 60 year member of the Tewksbury Congregational Church family. She was a member and former officer of the church’s Ladies Aid Society.
Peggy worked as a physical therapist, a hairdresser, a cafeteria worker at the Loella Dewing and the North Street Schools in Tewksbury, and became an artist in the senior years of her life.
She leaves a daughter Peggy Perry of Foxborough; two sons, William Booth of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Robert Booth and his wife Connie of Somersworth, NH; seven grandchildren, Molly Perry of Foxborough, Robert Perry of PA, Elgin Booth of Litchfield, NH, Marley Booth of Haverhill, Rachael Hill of Dover, NH, Shelby Booth of Somersworth, NH, and Jessica Diedrich of Ashland, NH; two great grandchildren Iris and Austin; one sister, Louise Hinkley of FL; and several nieces and nephews, including Nancy Lu of Tewksbury.
Visiting hours Monday, May 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.
