Berglund, Cervizzi Named TMHS Hats Off Recipients For May

Carina Berglund and Kristina Cervizzi have been named the May Winners of the Tewksbury High School/Tewksbury Rotary Club Hats Off Awards.

The pair were honored at a recent Tewksbury Rotary Club Lunecheon at the Tewksbury Country Club.

Berglund is the daughter of Karen Berglund. She regularly earns recognition on the Principal's List and is in the Top 10 percent in the Class of 2015.

In addition to being a member of National Honor Society, Berglund is gifted athlete. She is a captain on the cross country and spring track teams and a member of the winter track team.

Berglund was named to the Lowell Sun Cross Country All Star First Team, the Lowell Sun Indoor Track All Star First Team and was the team MVP for Cross Country. She was also a memberf of the Spring Track 4 x 800 Meter Relay Team that set a new school record.

Out in the community, Berglund is a weekly recycling volunteer, has volunteered to make blankets for hospital patients, volunteer as a track camp counselor and olunteered for weekly tutoring.

The faculty member who nominated Berglund for the award said Carina’s commitment to TMHS is unmatched.  "She’s a captain of Cross Country and Outdoor Track and will be a 12 season athlete. She is a NHS member and has taken several AP courses."

Then faculty member also stated that Berglund is the best leader the teacher has encountered in a 13-year teaching career.

Cervizzi is the daughter of Karen Manning and Vincent Cervizzi

She has regularly earned a place on the Honor Roll and the Principal's List.

Cervizzi has been a member of TMHS Adaptive Ski Team for three years and has been a member of Tammy’s Dance Connection for 10 years.

Recently, she was named the recipient of the Scott Finneral Scholarship

Active in her church community, Cervizzi has served as a volunteer at St. Williams Church as an assistant religious education for five years.

Cervizzi was nominated for the Hats Off Award by faculty members Pat McAndrews and Bill Jones.

"Kristina is a complete pleasure to have in class," said McAndrews. "She is an outstanding person with commendable behavior and attendance record."

"Kristina has excellent school spirit and student citizenship," added Jones.

Nominating faculty member, Mr. Chuck Zucco, states that Kristina is a ray of sunshine in the building.  She is a hard worker, strong student and a model citizen.
