Late-Night Fire Damages Tewksbury Pre-School

May 30, 2015 11:54AM ● By Bill Gilman
An effective, working sprinkler system helped to limit the damage from a two-alarm fire that broke out late Friday night at a Tewksbury pre-school.
A box alarm sounded at 10:38 p.m., triggered by flames at Tewksbury Knowledge Beginnings, 200 Old Main St.
Firefighters responded quickly and found the fire had started in the second-floor ceiling, according to a TFD spokesperson. Helped by the sprinkler system, firefighters were able to knock down the fire fairly quickly, but there was significant water and smoke damage on both floors of the building.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but early indications are it was an electrical fire.
Firefighters remained on scene until about 12:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.
